Humble Pie

After a 5-year hiatus, I decided it was time to go back to a group fitness class, specifically Pure Barre.

I still remember going to my first class back in 2016 (a 6 am one, no less) and falling in love. I could not get enough of those classes. Over 4 years, I took almost 700 classes across 2 studios. I was a regular in the 6 am club. I would do every challenge. It became my safe haven during rough times. Then COVID hit, and I stopped going.

Fast forward to the fall of 2025, the perfect timing of starting a new job that allows me to work from home a majority of the month and realizing I hadn’t worked out in any significant way for over a year (that’s a story for another day) led me to step foot into a barre studio again.

While I’m so happy to be doing these classes again, let me tell you… it’s been humbling to realize how much strength I’ve lost over the last couple of years.

Here’s to gaining that strength back and then some over the course of 2026. This is my commitment to myself.
